Coleman Engineering Company's Environmental Department has provided
environmental services for over 30 years. Our experience started in the
traditional aspects of environmental and civil engineering (wastewater
treatment, waste management and water distribution). Over the years we have
expanded our expertise to include the many other environmental issues facing our
clients. Today our services also include: investigation and cleanup of
contaminated soil, sediment and groundwater; environmental assessments;
preparing environmental management systems (EMS); permitting and compliance;
wetland assessment, delineation, restoration and mitigation; geophysical
surveys; brownfield redevelopment planning and grant writing; site development
and facility decommissioning. Our clients range from large corporations to small
entrepreneurs and include Local, State, Federal and Native American governments.
As a result of providing successful service, we have developed strong
professional relationships with all levels of regulatory personnel. In addition,
we have also developed a unique ability to improvise and provide creative
solutions to most situations challenging our clients.
Coleman Engineering Company’s staff consists of engineers, chemists,
hydrogeologists, hydrologists, geologists, environmental scientists, biologists
and field technicians. Our company is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)
Approved Consultant, a Michigan Qualified Underground Storage Tank (UST)
Consultant (QC), a Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Pre qualified
Consultant, a Wisconsin Petroleum Environmental Cleanup Financial Assistance (PECFA),
and a Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WDOT) approved Consultant.
Coleman Engineering Company has demonstrated experience assisting its
clients with identifying and investigating sources of contamination including
the
development of cost effective and manageable corrective actions. A variety of
methods are used for identifying and conducting site investigations. These
methods include conventional drilling and hydraulic probe sampling; ground
penetrating radar (GPR); electromagnetic surveys (EM); soil and groundwater gas
monitoring. Our personnel have experience with a variety of techniques to sample
soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, air and building materials.
Coleman Engineering Company staff are familiar with a variety of
remediation technologies and have successfully implemented corrective actions
that have involved: natural attenuation, air/ozone-sparging; soil vapor
extraction; soil venting; enhanced vacuum extraction; on and off-site thermal
treatment; asphalt incorporation; soil washing; active and passive
bioremediation; chemical injection; gas venting; reactive barriers; pump and
treat; and excavation and removal.
Coleman Engineering Company experience in the acquisition and divestiture
of real estate includes: Phase I, and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs);
Baseline Environmental Assessments (BEAs); Housing and Urban Development (HUD),
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Michigan State Housing Development
Authority (MSHDA) National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental
Assessments (EAs); asbestos and lead paint building inspections; and obtaining
brownfield redevelopment funding from local, State and Federal sources.
Coleman Engineering Company has conducted wetland assessment,
delineations and completed USACE/State Joint Permit Applications for various
land developers including Native American tribes, private landowners, WDOT, MDOT
and County Highway Departments. Our wetland experience includes mitigation and
restoration.
As a means of offering our clients compliance services, Coleman Engineering
Company performs environ-mental site walkovers and audits to help ensure
facility compliance. We have helped our clients prepare environmental management
systems (EMS), and plans to develop a process for continuous environmental
improvement and we have worked on behalf of our client to negotiate outstanding
compliance issues directly with a variety of regulatory agencies.
