JOHN P. POLICH
(August 16, 1953 - November 25, 2008)

John (Jack) P. Polich
recently lost a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a long-time employee
and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Polich joined Coleman Engineering Company in 1985
as Director of Environmental Services. His primary function was project
administration,
assisting the environmental staff professionals in completing projects assigned
to them.
Mr. Polich graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point in 1984
with a B.S. in Water Resources, from Lake Superior State College in 1975
with an A.S. in Water Quality Technology and in 1974 with an A.S. in Natural
Resource Management.
Mr. Polich had extensive experience in Brownfield redevelopment due to his
involvement in numerous projects in federal and state programs. He had extensive
knowledge of the many environmental liability management options and financial
incentives available to Brownfield site developers. He served on the ASTM E 50
Committee during drafting of the original ASTM Designation E-1527 Phase I
Environmental Site Assessment guidance. Through his years of service he had
assisted many individuals and corporations in conducting Due Diligence
environmental investigations, including All Appropriate Inquiry, relative to
property transactions.
Mr. Polich also had a considerable variety of experience with hazardous
substance and petroleum contaminated sites in Michigan, Wisconsin and on several federal
sites. He was familiar with the provisions of Parts 201 and 213 of Michigan
Public Act 451 and the Wisconsin Administrative Code Chapter NR 700. He was
experienced with underground and aboveground storage tank issues in both states
and is a
Certified Underground Storage Tank Professional in Michigan.
Mr. Polich began his career in environmental services as a Wastewater Treatment
Plant Operator. He continued to be involved in surface water quality issues,
most recently assisting communities with finding and eliminating extraneous
clear water from collection systems.
In addition, Mr. Polich served as the Coleman Engineering Company designated
Health and Safety Officer and chaired the Coleman Engineering Company internal
Safety Committee.
His personal interests included cycling, fishing, sea kayaking, skiing and
international travel. He has traveled extensively in the North and South Americas
and Europe. His had a life-long interest in history. He resided in Bessemer, Michigan.
